Dear Mike,
My husband and I have had many rescue dogs over the years and first found
your product locally at a feed store in Eureka.
The first dog that we used it on was a Gordon Setter, bald from the hips
back, with what we called "elephant hide", thick dark skin. She healed and
grew hair in a matter of weeks!
I wanted to write to you and tell you that we have called your shampoo
and lotion "the bald Scotty dog medicine" all these years because of the dog
on the display in the store.
Now I'm involved with yet another rescue group and have two eczematous
Pugs, one twelve and one seven. I got the one from a woman who is perhaps a
bit over the edge about Vegan diets for dogs, but I told her that I was
going to treat with Raven. She, of course, wants assurance that you don't
do cruel animal testing and that the products are environmentally safe, etc.
I couldn't answer that, so thought I'd write you. I ordered two kits today,
as I know how well it works! By the way, we actually had a bald Scotty some
years ago, who grew in a beautiful coat, thanks to you!
I'm hoping that your reply will help me reassure my rescue associates, as
I am eager to turn them on to Raven!!!! So many of their rescues have
eczematous skin and are euthanized for that reason. I feel like I can
specialize in skin care because of you.
By the way, my husband was an organic chemist, specializing in
manufacture of surfactants.
With enthusiasm,
Su

Dear Sue; How great to get that GLOWING letter from you! Mike is not at home today, but I will make sure he sees that letter as soon as he gets home!

That Feed Store is only one of two that we sell to now -  We do much better on the internet. That Scottie you mentioned was “Fergus”...he was a horrible case, he was so terrified of being handled because of his skin condition, Mike had to chase him down and use a salmon net to catch him! He never had skin problems again and died 5 years later at the ripe old age of 16, with a full coat of fur and no adverse effects.

I am enclosing a copy of the new labels for our Shampoo and Lotion . The ingredients are really quite basic(your husband will assure you of that). Mike actually TESTS the stuff on himself before it ever makes it to a dog. He rubs the shampoo into his eyes and so on. We recently made a change in the shampoo(it's a bit redder now)and Mike keeps testing new combinations so it’s quite a bit improved over the original now!  We use it on our dogs(English Mastiff's)when they need it. Last year we acquired two sisters that were being left by their owners. One, Daphene, had a HUGE hot spot on the base of her tail, it was just awful(that ride back from Orange County, in a van with 100+ heat....ooooh and the SMELL). We gave her a bath and lotion treatment the next day, and then two more in the next month. Her Hot Spots have not come back Her owners had been informed her skin problem was 'Incurable' and they had been fighting it for years. Our Male, Zeus, had several spots when we got him, and he's cleared up now as well.

Please assure your rescue friends that in over 10,000 kits sold, we have had only about 30 returns and no reports of any adverse side effects.

Dear Trudy and Mike,

Wow! A guy who tests his stuff in his own eyes!!! Sounds like my husband. The Pug that I just got is so stinky and hot and itchy and sore that I can hardly stand looking at her, but I knew that, even with her advanced age, Raven would work wonders.

I've read your web pages, but wanted again to tell you what a marvelous product you created. I'm going to do some photos of the Pugs as they progress, so that I can convince the rescue groups to use Raven products.

Thanks again!

Dear Su;

Thanks again for your great letters! Mike wants to know if it would be possible to post your comments.  He also wants you to know that we give 20%($3.00)discounts for all service dogs(seeing eye, search and rescue etc) and, after hearing from you, it occured to us that we should also include rescue folks as well. So, from now on, any member of a rescue group will also be entitled to a 20% discount.

Dear Trudy & Mike,

Of course, you can post my comments! I was just about to write again to you to let you know that after fifteen years of using your products, we are convinced that, if we had not found, used and continued to use Raven Pet Products, several rescue dogs who had joined our family would have had to be euthanized due to severe eczema, allergies causing rashes, and hot spots.

We first used the shampoo and lotion on Callie, a young Gordon Setter with flea allergy. She was bald from the ribs back to the very end of her tail (this was in the days prior to the invention of current flea remedies). Callie had both "elephant hide and open sores, constantly scratching and biting herself. She was miserable. After two weeks of using your alternative skin treatment, her sores were gone. At six weeks, she had hair everywhere and in a few months, all her "plumage" had grown back fully.

We went on, to use Raven on a variety of dogs, including Andy, a "dachsador" (half-Dachshund, half Labrador), Rosie, a "chug" (half-Chihuahua, half-Pug), several Scottish Terriers and Pugs. All healed and got hair back. Most were considered untreatable.

Bill and I both recall bad side effects from prescribed systemic steroids, the worst being the dog's inability to fight off infections. We were so relieved to find Raven Pet Products shampoo and lotion kit that we consider that day a very lucky one in our lives. While using any topical treatment requires some work and re-application, the benefits have been tremendous.

I want to thank you for offering a discount to rescue groups, as most of us are dedicated to salvaging dogs that might otherwise be unadoptable. While it's often sad, rescue work produces tremendous rewards when one sees the results. Just yesterday, I began treating a 12-year-old female Pug, Becky Louise, who had suffered neglect and has eczematous seborrheic skin, with elephant hide baldness on her rear and her tail. She loved the lotion (Pugs by nature aren't fond of the water and shampoo thing) and stopped itching for the first time. A new patch of redness is already no longer red at all, so we will continue to treat her until she is all healed. Unfortunately, her brother, in better shape than she was, had been euthanized due to his skin problems by another rescue group.

Please feel free to use any of our comments. I'll try to dig out pictures for you to enjoy. Bill has wondered for years about Mike and his development of Raven Pet Products. Bill's experience as an organic chemist and owner of a wholesale chemical company that produced surfactants allowed him to recognize the quality of your products, even before we knew the ingredients!

As a mid-level practitioner for people, I am so impressed that you were able to develop a treatment without steroids. We've referred many folks to you over the years and will continue to do so.

Most sincerely,

Su & Bill
